Psychometric properties of the Automatic Thoughts Questionnaire-8 in two Spanish nonclinical samples

Validation of the ATQ-8 in two Spanish samples (N=1,148). The instrument showed good internal consistency (α/ω = .89), unidimensional model fit, and metric and scalar equivalence across samples, sex, age, and educational level. The ATQ-8 correlated as expected with emotional symptoms, cognitive fusion, and experiential avoidance. Concludes that the ATQ-8 is a brief and valid alternative for measuring negative automatic thoughts in the Spanish population.
